Russ builds systems—but every one of them starts with a story.
After 20 years in pastoral leadership, Russ transitioned into software development, bringing with him a deep understanding of people, narrative, and long-term vision. What began as a career shift quickly grew into a passion for crafting experiences where story and gameplay work together.
As a co-founder of Polearm Studios, Russ helps shape the narrative foundation behind each project, then builds the systems that bring those ideas to life. From core mechanics to overall direction, he focuses on creating games that reward players who lean in, explore, and uncover what’s beneath the surface.
Known for wearing more hats than strictly reasonable, Russ keeps the team aligned, moving forward, and focused on finishing well.
Ben thrives where systems get complex.
After completing a coding bootcamp, he dove deep into personal projects, sharpening his skills and exploring how far he could push his ideas. That drive eventually led to co-founding Polearm Studios, where he now focuses on game design and the intricate systems that power each experience.
At Polearm, Ben is the one untangling the hard problems—building, refining, and reworking systems until they not only function, but feel right. He’s constantly exploring new approaches, helping the team push further while staying grounded in the goal.
Alongside his work with the studio, Ben is continuing to expand his knowledge through a degree in Computer Science.
Dan is the creative force behind Polearm’s visual world.
A self-taught 3D artist, he took on the challenge of learning Blender from the ground up and quickly developed a sharp eye for form, detail, and atmosphere. From environments to assets, his work helps bring each game’s world out of concept and into something players can see and feel.
Whether shaping the look of a scene or refining the small details that make it believable, Dan’s creativity shows up in every corner of the experience.
Currently working at a local foundry and preparing for the next chapter in ministry, his time with Polearm is more limited—but his impact continues to define the look and feel of our games.
